Beschreibung

Hello, my name is Leah Anderton, and I am an 18 year old elite amateur boxer from the Blue Mountains, NSW and train out of Jabout Boxing Gym in Penrith, NSW. I started boxing at the age of 14 and in 2024 won gold at the National Australian Youth Championships in Perth, WA. After winning my Australian title, I was selected as part of the Boxing Australia Youth team to compete at the 2024 World Boxing Youth World Championships in Colorado, USA. There I secured a bronze medal for Australia, ranking 3rd in the world for my age and weight. Our team’s performance made history for Australia at Youth Worlds with my bronze medal contributing as Australia’s second ever female medal at Youth Worlds.

Following my success last year, I have been selected to be part of Boxing Australia’s High Performance team in my first year as an elite boxer. I am the youngest female boxer on the team and will make my international elite debut at the Independence Cup tournament in the Dominican Republic. I leave with the Boxing Australia team on 21/02/2025 for the tournament followed by an international training camp. International flights and experiences like this are crucial for my development.

I will have several other international opportunities throughout the year to represent my country. I will also be travelling regularly interstate for training and fights. This year my goal is to represent Australia in September at the Elite World Boxing World Championships in Liverpool, England. I have unfinished business at the World Championships and do not intend to leave it at bronze. Next year I hope to qualify for the 2026 Commonwealth Games and continue to work towards my Olympic goal. Ultimately, I want to make a positive impact on female boxing and continue to push and better myself to expand what is possible.

None of this would be possible without the support of individuals and businesses behind me. It truly takes a village, and I am so grateful for the support and team that have got me so far. I require financial support for travel, accommodation, competition fees, training fees, boxing gear, nutrition, recovery and more. As a young athlete who travels regularly and is a full-time student, currently in my final year of a Bachelor of Laws at Western Sydney University, my time and earning capacity are limited. I put my heart and soul into everything I partake in with a drive to excel and be the best. I excelled academically in school and University, graduating school at age 15 and am now at the end of my Law degree looking to graduate at the end of 2025, only weeks after my 19th birthday. I train boxing multiple times a day nearly every day, training at all hours to get the work done. I choose to be fearlessly extraordinary and follow my dreams and hope to inspire others, especially young girls to do the same.

Thank you in advance to my 2025 team and everyone who supports me to make an impact. It truly means the world to me and enables me to chase my dreams and achieve great things.
